I was fortunate enough to have had The Chicken Mafia - four of my most brilliant and most successful colleagues from Strategic Planning, Account Management and Creatives, and four of my favorite people from "the BBDO of our time" - over for dinner last Friday night.
And to demonstrate what happens to conversations when such brilliance gathers, here are a few memorable lines from each of them:
ARLENE AQUINO, STRATEGIC PLANNING STAR OF BBDO-GUERRERO AND EMPLOYEE OF 2008: Chicken (our term of endearment for each other, long story)? Sabihin mo nga sa 'kin kung ako lang ba, o sadyang sala-salamid na ang mga topic natin???
FELICIA ALMARIO, BBDO-GUERRERO'S MOST VALUABLE SUIT OF 2008: Sala-salamid! I love it! I'm going to use that in meetings, like, when there's a chaotic discussion going on, I'll go, "Stop, wait! Our topics are making salamin-salamin already!"
TONYPET SARMIENTO, SAATCHI VP AND MY LOVABLE BOSS: Salamin-salamin, wasn't that the theme of the gown our boss' wife wore before?
EDG SAMSON, BOY WONDER OF OGILVY ACCOUNT MANAGEMENT: Sapin-sapin, yes! Ploning (that's Juday-loving me), uminom ka pa, dali! Where's the banyo?
After three bottles of red wine and three more of white (and before my poor closet could start complaining about the overflowing amount of kwentos we vowed to "keep locked inside these capiz doors"), the party packed up, promising to NOT wait 'til next Christmas to do this again.
(* NOTE: The Chicken Mafia is loosely composed of myself, Edg, Arlene, Felicia, Tony, and our dear James Bernardo. There is also the younger Mafia Chicklets, loosely composed of Jao, Pawpaw and Gino.)
